PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated: August 12, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Maya Dodson ("I," "me," or "my"), a sole proprietor operating the website mayadodson.com ("Site"), collects, uses, and protects information about you. By using this Site, you agree to the practices described here. If you have questions, please contact me at maya.dodson015@gmail.com.

2. About This Site

mayadodson.com is a portfolio and brochure website that also includes a blog and contact/inquiry forms. It does not sell products directly, process payments through this Site, or require account registration.

3. Who Hosts and Processes Data on My Behalf

This Site is built and hosted on Squarespace, Inc. (a third-party platform), not on servers I own or operate. Squarespace acts as a data processor on my behalf and may process your information in connection with providing hosting, security, analytics, and form-delivery services. Squarespace's own privacy policy governs how it handles data as part of its platform; you can review it at squarespace.com/privacy. I do not currently accept payments through this Site, but if that changes, payment processing would be handled by a third-party processor such as Stripe, which operates under its own privacy and security standards.

4. Information I Collect

Information You Provide Directly

When you fill out a contact or inquiry form on this Site, I collect the information you choose to submit, which typically includes your name and email address, and the content of your message. I do not collect any sensitive personal information (such as financial account numbers, Social Security numbers, health data, or government IDs) through this Site. If you ever submit anything of that nature, please do so through a secure, purpose-built channel instead.

Information Collected Automatically

Like most websites, this Site collects certain data automatically when you visit. This includes device and browser type, pages visited, time spent on pages, referring URLs, and your approximate location based on IP address. This data is collected through cookies and similar tracking technologies, described in more detail in Section 6 below.

Note on Cookie and Analytics Data

I cannot perform a live audit of every cookie set by Squarespace on your behalf. Based on what Squarespace's platform and commonly used third-party tools typically set, this Site likely uses session cookies for basic site functionality, analytics cookies (such as those associated with Squarespace's built-in analytics or Google Analytics if enabled), and performance cookies. The cookie section below reflects these typical categories rather than a confirmed real-time audit. I recommend reviewing your browser settings to see exactly which cookies are present.

5. How I Use Your Information

I use the information collected for the following purposes:

• To respond to inquiries and messages you send through the contact form.

• To understand how visitors use the Site so I can improve its content and performance.

• To maintain the security and proper functioning of the Site.

• To comply with applicable legal obligations.

I do not sell your personal information to third parties. I do not use your information for targeted advertising, and I do not share your information with advertisers. I do not use your data to build consumer profiles for sale or transfer.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

This Site uses cookies, which are small text files stored on your device. Based on what Squarespace and typical embedded tools use, the following cookie categories are likely present on this Site (note: this is based on platform-typical behavior, not a verified live audit):

• Strictly necessary cookies: Required for the Site to function, such as maintaining session state and security. These cannot be disabled without breaking core site features.

• Analytics and performance cookies: Collect information about how visitors use the Site, such as which pages are visited most and whether error messages are displayed. This data is aggregated and not linked to individual identities.

• Preference cookies: May store your display preferences if you have interacted with site settings.

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through your browser settings. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or notify you when a cookie is being set. Be aware that disabling certain cookies may affect Site functionality. You can also opt out of Google Analytics data collection (if applicable) by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

7. How I Share Your Information

I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. I share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: Squarespace and other subprocessors that help operate the Site (such as hosting infrastructure and analytics tools) may access information in the course of providing those services. These parties are bound by applicable data processing agreements.

• Legal requirements: I may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or government request, or if I believe disclosure is necessary to protect my rights or the safety of others.

• Business transfer: If I ever sell or transfer my business or its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. I will notify you via a notice on this Site before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

8. Data Retention

I retain contact form submissions and associated personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your inquiry and maintain business records, typically no longer than three years unless a longer retention period is required by law. Analytics data is retained in accordance with the default retention settings of the analytics tool used. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting me at maya.dodson015@gmail.com.

9. Data Security

I rely on Squarespace's platform security controls to protect data transmitted to and stored on this Site, including HTTPS encryption for data in transit. While these are reasonable technical measures, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. I cannot guarantee absolute security, and I encourage you not to share sensitive personal information through general contact forms.

Georgia law (O.C.G.A. Section 10-1-912) requires notification to affected individuals in the event of a data breach involving certain personal information. If a breach occurs that affects your data held by or through this Site, I will notify you as required by applicable law.

10. Children's Privacy

This Site is not directed to children under the age of 13 and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If I become aware that a child under 13 has submitted information through this Site, I will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided me with personal information, please contact me at maya.dodson015@gmail.com.

11. Third-Party Links

This Site may contain links to third-party websites or services. I am not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information to them.

12. Applicable Law and Your Rights

This Site is operated from Georgia, USA. The primary legal frameworks governing this Site's data practices include the federal CAN-SPAM Act (governing commercial email), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the FTC Act, and Georgia's breach notification statute (O.C.G.A. Section 10-1-912).

Georgia's Consumer Privacy Protection Act (SB 111, effective July 1, 2026) grants rights to access, correct, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal data. However, that law applies only to businesses processing the personal data of at least 100,000 Georgia consumers per year, or at least 25,000 consumers if more than 25 percent of gross revenue comes from data sales. As a small sole proprietor, I do not meet these thresholds, and the law does not legally apply to this Site at this time. That said, I honor the spirit of those rights voluntarily: you may contact me at maya.dodson015@gmail.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information I hold about you, and I will respond promptly.

Residents of other US states with active comprehensive privacy laws (including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and others) may have additional rights under their own state laws. Because this Site is a small sole-proprietor portfolio that does not sell personal data and processes far fewer records than the thresholds in those laws, I do not believe I am a covered entity under any of them. If you believe you have rights under your state law that apply here, please contact me at maya.dodson015@gmail.com and I will respond in good faith.

13. Changes to This Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in my practices or applicable law. When I make material changes, I will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. I encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

14. Contact

If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or my data practices, please contact me at: maya.dodson015@gmail.com. I will do my best to respond within a reasonable time.
